And God will equip you to do His holy will

Sometimes we hear or feel God’s calling on our lives to carry out a particular mission, but we see, think, and feel that we’re not enough. We look at our bodies, our minds, and what we’ve accomplished so far in life and think, How could I possibly do this?

In the world, certain people may seem like the best fit for certain roles because of their looks, wealth, physique, or status. And it’s true — in our own strength, we might fall short. But when it comes to the things of God, He is the One doing the work. He is the One who qualifies us to accomplish His good purposes.

In Exodus, we see a clear example of this. When the people of Israel were instructed to construct the tabernacle and the ark of the covenant, a man named Bezalel was chosen for the task. He was called by name and filled with the Spirit of God — with skill, intelligence, and knowledge. God Himself bestowed these abilities upon him to complete His work. The tabernacle was the holy sanctuary that carried the presence of God. The ark was placed in the Most Holy Place within the tabernacle. It was so sacred that later in the bible when a man tried to steady it to prevent it from falling, he was struck down. Think about that. Yet Bezalel was the one chosen by God to build it with his own hands.

Exodus 35: 30-33

Then Moses said to the Israelites, “See, the Lord has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood and to engage in all kinds of artistic crafts.

God did not call everyone to build the tabernacle or the ark. He placed His Spirit in Bezalel. He chose him and equipped him, along with a few others, for the assignment.

What has God chosen you to do? What Spirit has God placed within you? In what position has He placed you in your family, at work, in your home, at church, or in your country? From the smallest task to the greatest responsibility, God is intentional.

God created this entire, beautiful universe on His own. He is the final boss over every skill and ability you can imagine. Trust in Him, and you will accomplish great things in His name. Do not let doubt or fear tell you otherwise.

Look at God’s response to Moses when fear and doubt overwhelmed him. God emphasized that He is the Creator. He has all the power. It is up to us to surrender and allow Him to demonstrate His power through us and through what we accomplish.

Exodus 4: 10-12

Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”

There are many others in the Bible whom God equipped — Jeremiah, Daniel, and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. The list goes on. So with this final verse from Hebrews, do not be afraid or hesitant. Surrender. Have faith and trust God to do the impossible through you.

Hebrews 13: 20-21

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
